Boeing values 0.4
Starlite values 5.0
Further tests carried out in the USA in 1996/1997/1998/1999/2000/2001 proved and certified that “THE STARLITE’’, and ‘’ULTRA HIGHTECH STARLITE’’ TECHNOLOGIES” have established certificate of a “Q” Value of 2470. [The shuttle tiles have a “Q” value of only ONE at 75mm thick]
In December 2001. At the laboratories of MDC/ Boeing, Phantom Works, St.Louis. USA Certified protection against fuselage burn through for 15 mins in civil aircraft was demonstrated and tested positive. This was certified by the Boeing Engineers team lead by Dr. Allen Atkins VP. Technologies
The “INSULFAB” by DuPont’ the material which was reported as being the key factor with a composite of the DuPont “Kapton Cabling” in the composite which started the fire and being the cause for the Swiss Airways CRASH over Nova Scotia”
Whilst a separate test proved that “THE STARLITE’’ and ULTRA HIGHTECH STARLITE’’ ‘’TECHNOLOGIES TREATED” “insulfab” ”As an aircraft lining” THIS did not ignite and did not burn at all. A DVD of the test and results are available.

In the UK, Demonstration Tests were simulated for FIRE DOORS during Aug 2003 and March 2004 this proved a “ONE HOUR PLUS “protection as sustainable.
A new “Lightweight” “Starlite Fire Door”(c) and TM is in design concept”

November 2006 Halogen Free Starlite Fire Door
‘’A Prototype’’: manufactured lightweight Timber and MDF composite ‘’HF Starlite Fire Door’’ was subjected to severe conditions of fire test with BS476+++ This was also subjected to stress factors for integrity; on the 7th November 2006 these severe tests including the stress factors proved 90 minutes FIRE PROTECTION with temperatures up to 1325.o.c [and, which are grossly in excess of the required test parameters] and, with the integrity to be sustainable.
Thermal Barriers
The inside of the Furness being at a profile temperature ranging from 850.o.c to 1325.o.c. The outside of the door was only up to > 43.o.c @ 60 mins== and 45.o.c. at 90 mins. The ‘’DELTA T’’.. Recorded 807’’ at 60 mins and 1280 up to 90 mins.

There was NO Warping, bending or twisting, or delaminating during the test; and in particular between the door and frame spaces which remained sealed with the special ‘’STARLITE SEAL EXPANSION’’.
THE Energy calculated that 3.9 million BTU’s was consumed during the test.
This was produced by using 46 Cubic Meters of Gas; is that 46 tonnes of Gas?

Currently looking @ Foam spray, possibly including for the tackling of the Californian fires.

[F1] MW will arrange to carry out demonstrations under his control and management on the “STARLITE” and ‘’ULTRA HIGHTECH STARLITE’’ “DEMONSTRATION MATERIAL” at an agreed facility or location and fee.

[10a]This agreement shall be governed exclusively by English Law and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts as witness the respective hands of Maurice Ward and of…Mr. . The day and date in the year first before written.

  1. The idea of incorporating this technology into some type of fire extinguishing product is excellent, There is currently a great new product caleed Arctic Fire Freeze(AFF) that is just starting to enter the private sectors, it is currently being used for war fighters in Iraq and they have suppression systems in HumV's, and soldiers can apply it directly on their skin to prevent burns. If their was some type of way to combine the two technologies that could be amazing. AFF works on class AB&D fires and it has super cooling technology in it that brings even your hot metals quickly back to ambient temperatures. I do not know if you have found the Starlite product to be able to cool a severely hot item but with its heat resistance qualities it could really enhance this existing technology.

  2. Mr. Ward,
I am sure this has already come up but the opportunity should even be greater now with the new changes in the global economy and with the global warming worries out there and a lot of it based on our dependency on carbon fuels. Have you looked into using your product in the automotive industry? With this technology it could be incorporated into a light weight engine to run the new future vehicles that are all going to be required to put out less emmisions and better fuel economy, this product would help both problems, the weight savings alone will accomplish better fuel economy and less emmisions. I am sure this has already come up, and this has appeal in a wide market sector, auto's, RV's, Boats, Motorcycles, ATV's, Snowmobiles, Etc., Etc. With the US investing so much money on its stimulus package, I know there would be a lot of money that could be applied for to make this happen, and it not only accomplishes the goal of getting a more efficient vehicle on the road, it would help to create a lot of new jobs, the entire engine could be made out of light weight but durable materials coated or mixed with your product, this would be awesome.

  3. I am a freelance consultant chemist and I have been working on these types of formulations for many years. I can confidently state that I can replicate this material and improve on the tensile properties (i.e. impact resistance) which are rather lacking in this material. Any interested parties can contact me on 0034 617868858 or Email: williamscomplex@gmail.com. All enquiries welcomed.

  4. Hello

Well! Surprised that this material is still generating so much interest. I have designed many similar formulations to this material and indeed some are actually currently under review for use as nanocomposites. These materials are certainly not difficult to produce providing that one has sufficient knowledge of fire resistant products.
If anyone has a query RE: fire resistant type coatings, then I would be happy to answer it. You can contact me at; timwhelton.kenwright@gmail.com

    Thank you

  5. I hope Mr Ward sees this.
May I please point out that nothing stops an inventor giving license to more than one corporation or company. If you sell outright the rights to an invention or give exclusive production licensing to a single company they might do what Edison did to Tesla.
He bought the rights to Tesla's clean and free electricity and buried it. [If only we can find that].
Thanks to Edison we have a polluted world. Tesla died broke and heartbroken. Traditionally inventors do not become rich. Those who usurp inventions do so.
